Creating balance has a lot to do with how you deal with challenges! What sometimes makes me sad is that the vast majority of people are clinging on to the dream that “some day I’ll have balance in my life” and it’s as if they put their happiness on hold and accept that they won’t be completely happy until that day. And meanwhile LIFE goes on, the actual life, not the imagined!
Balance isn’t something we find, it’s something we create! With every choice we make we have the power to create either balance or imbalance. In this post I’ll write about the fact that how we chose to relate to challenges will have a major impact on your perceived balance in life.
We have this strange and totally unrealistic picture of ourselves living a life without challenges and that’s when we find balance… When nothing challenges us, when nothing disturbs our reality, when nothing puts us out of control… How many people have you met that are completely balanced? Most likely closer to zero then the majority… And that is for obvious reasons. A life without challenges doesn’t exist! They will come in different shapes and forms throughout your whole life, because they’re a part of life! And the sooner we accept that as a fact, the sooner we can start dealing with those challenges IN A MORE BALANCED WAY AND HENCE CREATE A MORE BALANCED LIFE!!!
The unbalanced way is to waste energy on victimizing yourself, blaming others, dwelling, complaining, giving it to much space… The balanced way is to accept it and try to figure out what you can learn from it…
That’s why my belief is that you will never find balance, you have to create it! If you want to live a balanced life you have to shift perspective, accept challenges and realize that a lot of times it’s our own perspective that creates unbalance.
I fell down the unbalanced hole after new years! A lot of my clients wanted to get back on track after Christmas and setting their intentions for 2017. My biggest Achilles heel is that I want to help everyone and of course I said yes… All of a sudden I found myself complaining about the workload, blaming others for “eating up” my time… I kind of victimized myself for a couple of days until I realized what I was doing (and yes, it is easy to fall into the holes even if you’re the person that should know better;-))!
I was challenged and my old patterns were shown to me. The same patterns that made me “hit the brick wall” a couple of years ago! And it became very clear that I was dealing with the challenges in an unbalanced way! But seen from the balanced way I was actually given the brilliant opportunity to make some changes!
So, if you want balance, take a close look at how you deal with challenges, in a balanced or unbalanced way?!
Ps. More posts on this topic are coming up! When it comes to creating balance, challenges is just the tip of the iceberg…
