Since I don’t believe in goals what do I believe makes a person take the necessary steps in life? Well I call it “one brick a day”… The trick is that you identify one brick every day that takes you in a direction you want to go. It might sound so easy that you don’t even take me seriously but I can guarantee that it works! But you can’t fuck around with that brick! That brick is what will create a house beyond any house you can imagine!
Think about it! If you do one thing every day that you’ve identified as being a tangible reflection of your true potential instead of 100 things that reflect yourself when you’re a person you don’t want to be… I can guarantee that the result will exceed what you’ve ever imagined truly possible. And why I say truly possible is because some people picture themselves winning the lottery, becoming millionaires and live happily ever after. That’s not truly possible and has nothing to do with your true potential! The brick is everything you are manifested in one thing. It can be writing one page in that book you’ve always dreamed of writing, meeting up with that person that always has inspired you, register a domain, book that trip, have a garage sale… The thing is that it can be anything as long as it is a reflection, and a way to manifest, your true potential!
Have you ever furnished a home? Often we have a clear image of how we want it but when we’ve lived there for a while we realize that we would have done it differently knowing what we know today… If we instead of furnishing the whole house in advance, buying a bunch of furniture’s that seemed to be perfect, would have bought stuff along the road the house would without a question met all our needs in a much better way. Maybe a strange metaphor but the thing is that that one brick everyday is the organic growth of your life where you don’t decide to fit things that doesn’t fit just because you have a picture of what it might look like.
So, all we have to do now is identify the first brick! But since that brick should be a reflection of your true potential you need to do some background work.
But let’s say you have a good idea about where your true potential lies, let’s identify the first brick! Start with answering the following questions:
- If you were to use your true potential what would you do more of?
- What do you do when you feel you’re wasting time on shit?
- How much time can you make available from the “shitstuff”?
- Identifying the first brick: Starting today, what would be the first step in implementing more of your true potential in your life?
When you’re done putting down that first brick you instantly identify your second one which you’ll be taking care of the next day and so it goes on! Instead of another year that just passes by, more or less the same as the year before, I guarantee you that after one year you have created something wonderful!!! And if you still don’t think you can do it without setting goals… Maybe reading about “thenonsettinggoalthing” will convince you…
